Division: Detention and Corrections

  • Mandatory and Voluntary Overtime

    Procedure for filling overtime shifts. Prohibits staff from working more than 12 hours per day and one mandatory overtime shift per week. Requires eight hours off before returning to work. Allows mandatory overtime to be assigned with less than 48-hour notice in limited circumstances.

  • Facility Training Plans

    Policy requiring a training plan, developed annually by the Training Coordinator, who is a credentialed or otherwise recognized expert, and the Advisory Training Committee, who meet quarterly. Plan must include pre-service and in-service, policy and procedure updates, and legal updates. It will include time constraints for each category.

  • Facility Personnel Training

    Policy outlining the contents and duration of training received by facility personnel on a pre-service, first year, and ongoing basis. Requires annual firearm re-qualification, chemical agent use and treatment, and use of force training for all sworn members.

  • Career/Educational Incentive

    Policy to support the continuation of personnel education on a voluntary basis, including attendance of schools, seminars, workshops, and symposiums in addition to the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification program.

  • Volunteer Orientation and Training Program

    Policy establishing guidelines for the orientation and training of volunteers under the direction of Inmate Services.

  • Vehicle Control, Maintenance and Cleaning

    Policy for controlling and maintaining D&C-owned and personal vehicles. Outlines the use of the Patrol Car Log and Damage to County Vehicle Log. Requires and annual inspection of all vehicles. Requires that firearms and ammunition be secured in lockers or departmental vehicle trunk.

  • Assigned County Vehicles

    Policy for county vehicles assigned to specific personnel. Forbids the temporary transfer of vehicles between officers without prior authorization from Commanding Officer. Requires the surrender of vehicles for any absence greater than one day.

  • Use of Transportation Section Vehicles by Detention and Corrections Personnel

    Policy for the use of transportation vehicles at Santa Rita. Unit vehicles may only be used by Transportation personnel, unless authorized by the Transportation Sergeant or Watch Commander.

  • Facility Mail Procedure

    Policy for incoming and outgoing mail through the facilities’ mailrooms. Forbids employee use of the mailroom or Agency address for personal mail. Mailrooms are to be open Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

  • Telephone, All-Call Paging and 800 MHz Radio System

    Policy for employee use of facility communication systems, including telephone, radio, and (Santa Rita only) all-call paging system. Systems are to be used only for county business, otherwise public pay phones are available. Radio communication is used as a backup/emergency system.
