Employee Grievance
Procedure for handling employee grievances. If an allegation cannot be resolved informally with an immediate supervisor, appeals may be made to successively higher authorities, beginning with the Commanding Officer and ending with an arbitrator or panel of department heads. Requires that grievances be filed within 60 days and appeals made within 7 days.

On-Duty Contact by Union Representatives
Policy granting authorized union representatives access to the personnel they represent, with prior approval from the Sheriff. No contact is permitted during work hours for issues of membership, dues, elections, or other internal union business.

Daily Attendance Report
Procedure for completing a daily report on the attendance or absence of personnel. Report is created by the Watch Sergeant, forwarded for review and approval to the Watch Commander, and then sent to the Commanding Officer for final approval.

Personnel Evaluation Reports
Requires that all employees be evaluated annually, or more often based on probationary or transfer status. Overdue evaluations are reported to the Commanding Officer. Unsatisfactory ratings must include a “Performance Improvement Plan” or “Record of Discussion.” Evaluations are reviewed and signed by the employee before being placed in their permanent file.

Personnel Records
Policy mandating current, accurate, and confidential personnel files, including permanent files and secondary/unit files. Establishes the availability of records to the employee, administrators, direct supervisors, and other personnel who need the information to perform their duties. Outlines the procedure for employees to challenge their records.

Payroll Distribution
Procedure for distributing biweekly payroll warrants. Requires that employees sign for their warrant and outlines the process by which they may question or challenge it in the event of discrepancies.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Form and Review
Procedure for timekeeping through the submission of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) timesheets and departmental timekeeping cards. Requires that all timesheets be verified and signed by the employee supervisor.

Infectious Disease Control
Procedure for work assignments during which there may be exposure to infectious disease. Requires that certain exposures be reported and the affected employee receive medical evaluation. Allows employees to request an HIV or infectious disease test of an inmate. An Exposure Control Plan is to be updated annually.

Occupational Injury/Illness or Long Term Illness
Procedure by which personnel report occupational injury and long-term illness. Requires that any illness lasting more than one week be reported, regardless of impact on work. Requires that logs of occupational injuries be given to Risk Management annually.

Sick Leave
Procedure for employee use of sick leave for self or family.
