Share An Office With Me

Hello Friends and Colleagues,

I am ideally looking for someone to share my office with me on a part-time or full-time basis. I am also opening up to the possibility of moving offices (within Oakland) to cut costs (see end of post).

The office is in a large shared office suite with 4 other offices, a common room, and a conference room. My political art filled sunny office (south facing window) is approximately 8 ft by 11 and 1/4 ft with 9 or 10 ft ceilings. I am in the process of moving out furniture to make more space, so pictures are forthcoming.

You would have your own key to the suite and our office, and 24-7 access. In Fall 2014 I will be out of the office teaching most Mondays and Tuesdays. The space is small for two people to be on the phone at the same time, but there is ample space in the suite to take calls elsewhere. As I perform confidential legal work in the office, familiarity with client confidentiality is desired.

Desired rent is $240. I am open to trade or price negotiation depending on your needs. Rent includes shared bathroom, kitchenette, access to shared conference room, Wi-Fi, janitorial services, utilities, security and mailbox. There is currently a desk and chair available, as well as an Ethernet connection.

We can negotiate use of my printer/copier/scanner, e-fax, and mail machine if desired. We are at 1201 Martin Luther King Jr Way at 12th St., in a beautiful and sunny Victorian building in Oakland’s historic Preservation Park district. The office is are surrounded by quaint buildings and lush landscaping and a gorgeous fountain with benches to sit on http://preservationpark.com/home/. The suite/office is ADA accessible with a ramp. It is a 5 minute walk from Oakland’s City Center BART station and 1 block from the freeway. There is 2 hour free street parking on nearby blocks.  We park our bikes inside. The primary tenant is Radical Designs: a worker-owned cooperative, that provides web development and web hosting services to nonprofits and grassroots social justice organizations. The other tenants are Avaaz (Internet organizing platform non-profit) and Sarai (helps business and non profit with day-to-day IT services and network support).

*Radical Designs is also subletting another room (about 237 sq. feet for $734.29/month) and even considering renting out desks in that room instead of subletting the whole room. Pictures of the building are here http://radicaldesigns.org/article.php?id=173

**Also, if you know of any reasonably priced individual offices (with a door that closes and can host confidential client meetings) or suites, I would be interested in hearing about them. I also have a friend looking for a suite in a law-focused office space, and can pass on to them too.
